Butter. Provides chewiness and deep flavor for both layers.Chocolate bar. Provides rich taste and texture to brownies and blondies. Its superiority over chocolate chips is preferred. I use semi-sweet chocolate, although dark chocolate bars taste stronger. Granulated sugar.
